U.S. Capitol Building 5"x7" Daguerreotype Replica – Metal Print
Dating from 1846, this is the earliest known photograph of the U. S. Capitol Building and shows the building with its earlier, copper dome.
The original historic image was produced as a daguerreotype, one of the first forms of photography, which used a silver-plated copper sheet instead of a more modern paper. Our collectable version of the image is restored and replicated on a sheet of metal, allowing one to experience the photo similarly to the original 1846 version. Best viewed unframed, it can easily sit on a desk or bookcase and makes a perfect gift for any history or architecture aficionado.
